fuel issues 1989 150 Suzuki

With full throttle my motor hesitates until I push the electric choke button in and get it up on plane. Once on plane it seems to run fine except I am not getting the speed like I have had in the past. The motor starts and idles great everytime. Any ideas?

Sounds like carburetion problems. You should thoroughly clean.

I pulled my fuel filter last night and found alot of grit or sand in the bowl. Is the filter cleanable or should I replace it? Went to test it a the lake tonight and still have the same problem.
