  • DF140 sudden engine shut down

On two occasions my engine shut down while running at about 4200 rpm. First time the engine restarted without issue. The second time the engine would not restart immediately, after about 30 mins was able to restart and ran back to port at low rpm. I checked fuel / water filter and drain fuel no evidence of water in fuel. Engine has 1050 hours and had 200 hour service and winterized in January. This was first two outings of the season. Any ideas on the cause.

As soon as I see the word “sudden” I immediately think electrical. It might be a wrong assumption but.... I would check every electrical connection that might have been unplugged in performing of the 200 hour service, thinking that the technician might have thought he/she plugged the connectors back in but didn’t quite get it in all the way. Maybe the technician inadvertently dislodged a plug/wire. Failling that it could be any connection just seems fishy that this problem arose after a service.

Could also be the white wire?
