  • Suzuki Outboard DF60ATL charge battery question

    Hi all,

I'm hoping one of you can help me with my search of the correct wire. I'm a bit confused atm.

    I've got a DF60ATL (Year 2018)

Out the engine is 1 power cable coming which is connected directly to my battery. This cable, when starting the engine is taking power from the battery. Once the engine runs the cable charges the battery. This all works fine.

However i want to add an additonal battery for auxillary items. i want to add a diode-brigde between the 2 batteries, However this can only be done if I split the alternator from the starter.
In the manual it states that the alternator/magneto is joined with the + of the starter.
Can someone tell me which cable i need to take to split the starter power and alternator power?
    Perhaps a photo?

    Thanks in advance :-)

The simplest and best way to add a second battery and ensure it stays charged is to use a VSR arrangement (voltage sensitive relay).

Several manufacturers make kits that make the job easy - blue seas Add A Battery kit is one. Yandina also make a kit. Google them you will find.

I use a BEP Marine system.
