  • water pressure valve

My BF30 2002 has a high rpm alarm.
All the usual maintenance have been done (pump, thermostat, flushing, bat. terminal …)
My research point to the water pressure valve (pop-it or poppet)
This valve open and allow more water to the head at high rpm.

Do I really need to take the power head off to get to this small part in or under the oil pan?
How long will it take to a good mecanic to do the job?

Is the alarm an overheat alarm or low oil pressure alarm? Have you check engine block temp when alarm sounds to see if engine is overheating? The pressure control valve doesn't normally cause an overheat at WOT because it is normally open at WOT anyway. If it's stuck open then usually causing a problem at low RPM's. Did you check the water pump housing to see if distorted or melted at top around impeller liner?

And yes engine would need to be removed to replace pressure control valve.
