  • Twin DT 140s issues

I have the motors almost dialed in for the summer. They crank and idle great and run out good and strong. I have two little bugs to work out and then they will be perfect. They are 1996 carbed DT140s
    1) Starboard motor cranks great and idles great in the water at about 850rpms, when i drop it in gear it falls to around 450rpms. This is too low and if I turn the thumb screw adjustment and get it up to about 650rpms or so, then when i put it back in neutral it is over 1000rpms. What is causing it to fall too much?
    2) The port engine cranks, idles and runs like a champ, but when running fast and then pulling back the throttles quickly to slow down....it knocks off. Cranks right back up instantly and doesn't do it if you pull the throttle back slowly. Only bringing it back from 4 or 5,000 rpms to idle instantly. Where would you start looking?

Check compression. May have to clean carbs, look for air leaks in intake, make sure carbs are in sync.
