Not really sure what you are asking.

If your question is: can you troll at idle speeds all day, then yes, you can, done it with mine. They do it easily. Same at fast troll 12 knots for wahoo. It will do it for hours. Smooth, quiet, fuel efficient. No smoke or smell.

Is that what you wanted to know?

Wait Grant, is this a break-in period? Doesn't this matter on 4 strokes? Is it safe to troll if breaking-in? Don't they need time to wear rings in properly, before you troll for hours at low speeds?

Just inquiring about these delicate 4 strokes Grant. Lol

        Haha, thanks Ralph!

First 10 -20 hours during breaking-in, you will want to avoid continuous running at any rpm level.

        After that, no problems!

And at least after slow trolling for 4 hours with a 4 stroke, you will still be alive whereas with a 2 stroke you'll have choked to death on the smoke, if the engine didn't foul up and stall after the first 20 minutes, that is!

2 strokes hate idling, they want to run, I, try not to stay at idle for more than 10 mins at a time, 4 strokes are great trollers once there broke in, or you will have an oil burner for life.

            Generally I troll for a stretch of ~ 8 hrs. (Lake Ontario) and have never encountered any difficulties (mechanically or other-wise) . --- 15 HP Suzuki 2-stroke . --- It's oil-injected , 100 : 1 .

              Hi 38Angler!

Ignore the above comment, it's just a bit of friendly banter between friends on the forum! I Australian parlance, I was just "stirring the possum" to see if I could get a bite from Solarman.....
