    To whoever can help:

Yesterday as we were boating with my 1999 60 HP Suzuki as I placed the engine in neutral all at once the starter engaged as if I was holding the key over to start the engine but the engine was already running. I could hear the sound of the starter engaging only when I placed it in neutral. As I put it in gear to move forward the starter stopped. When I placed it in reverse the starter stopped. The only difference was when I put it in reverse I heard a loud clicking noise and the starter would stop. Strange I know but that is the description of what happened. Can anyone explain or help me.

To start with, it would be helpful to know if this is a four stroke or two stroke motor, as there are differences in wiring between motors.

However, your problem may be related to a short at your controls, or linkages?

    Good luck.
