I have a 2007 DF2.5 and find that there is excessive play between the prop and the prop drive shaft. This motor uses an aluminum prop that is mounted to the shaft with a shear pin and cotter pin. The play is in the horzontal plane when the engine is in the upright vertical position. I installed a spare prop and have the same play.
I looked at a more recent model with the plastic nut on the end of the prop/shaft and noticed that the prop is nice and snug on the shaft with no play.
Is the play normal. Is this why they changed the prop design on the newer models? Do the prop mounting holes have a tendancy to wear out and cause this?
My motor runs fine just wondering if I have something to worry about.
