  • Storing new df30A that was never started

Hi, my name is Ben and I live in Iowa. I have a question. I bought a 2017 DF30A that was shipped to me in original crate. I mounted it on my boat and put in engine oil but never started it or put it in water yet due to health issues. Boat is kept covered in unheated building. With my issues I will not get it in water this year. Since the outboard is in factory condition, will it be safe to leave it is as until next spring or do I need to fog cylinders? No fuel was put it in. Again, I put the engine oil was put in but it was never turned over. Any ideas?

I don't believe you need to do anything to your engine
My only question is it to remain on your boat in the vertical position?
If it is going to be off the boat then there is a certain position it should be stored in when it is laid down

And one last thought -- remove the plugs and turn it over a few times
That should disburse the oil to the places needed and fogging the cylinder heads before putting the plugs back is a great idea

Thank you for the response. It is staying on the boat so I will remove plugs and fog it and put plugs back in. I will probably leave plug wires off and turn it over so all off cylinder walls get covered. Thank you again.
