Where you able to figure out what the issue is? I am having the same issue.
I had a rectifier / regulator over-voltage, so I replaced the rectifier / regulator, and the voltage went to 14.2, right in the range it should be, however, since it was previously charging at a much higher rate, and as part of routine maintenance, I replaced the battery just to be sure there was no damage done to the battery from over charging.
However, now with the new battery, at idle I show around 12.5 volts, and at higher RPM's it is around 12.5 to 12.9 volts.
