Default gear selector adjustment df70

Hi I have a 2004 suzuki df70

when i put my controlbox from neutral into the first click of forward it doesnt engage correct. what is the correct way of adjusting the gear selector???

help is much appreciated.

is there an online manual somewhere that explanes this procedure?

Remove shift cable from motor(check for excessive play in cable) put motor in neutral and control box in neutral and adjust shift cable end to fit on shifter of motor.

tried that . neutral and reverse line up but forward is half an inch short.

If it shifts ok by hand(cable removed) then may need a new cable. If doesn't ok by hand then may problem with linkage or a problem inside gearcase with shifter.
