Went boating today, front anchor fell off the bow when doing about 30 MPH. I instantly went to put it in neutral, but did it too hard and went into reverse!! Now I have no forward or reverse! I just spent $2000 to have the lower unit overhauled!!! Is there a shear pin or something that protects the lower unit from this situation??? And if so how hard to fix it? And how much? Oh, it is a 1997 DT225 2 stroke....
pretty hard to say what has happened, but first step is to make sure it is not a control problem, that is, can you shift manually via the gear lever on the motor end? I am guessing that a strip down to investigate will be needed, proabably take it back to whoever rebuilt it for you before, you never know, they may offer some sort of deal.
