Default 2000 DF25 Rough idle

When I run my 2000 DF 25 and it is warmed up it starts to idle rough. Once I get going and plane out, it is smooth and doesn't sputter. As soon as I come back to idle speeds it idles rough. Once I give it gas from a rough idle it sometimes sputters and backfires. My buddy said it sounds like the low speed jets on the carb. He wasn't too familiar with the four stroke though. I looked up on Boats.net and saw main jets and pilot jets, #36,37. Are the pilot jets the "low speed jets"? Can I just remove those and clean them or does the whole Carb need to be removed? Thanks!

You will need to remove the carburetors to change the jets, however in many cases the jets can be cleaned. Does sound like the idle circuit, be sure to thoroughly clean all air/fuel passages prior to reinstallation. I would recommend checking the timing as well.
