Default DT4 lack of power

Hi, I am new to boating and recently purchased a 2.5m tri hull boat and DT4 two stroke motor. The motor just doesn't seem to be performing at it's best. Is there a carb setting I may have wrong? It obtains high revs in neutral but hardly maintains a fast walking speed at full throttle. The boat only weighs about 40 kg's

It sounds like the motor maybe too small for your boat.

Default System Performance and Power

I've got a 12 foot aluminum v-hull skiff which planes and runs quite acceptably with a 6 HP Suzuki DF6. However, when I add a second passenger or cargo, the performance (e.i. ability to get on plane and engine rpm) quickly drops off (because of lack of power in that system).

On the other hand, I've watched in awe as fully loaded 25 foot+ dugout canoes loaded with 1000+ pounds reach amazing high cruising speeds with little DT2.2 or DF2.5 engines pushing them. Of course, these craft are displacement type vessels which take advantage long waterline length to narrow beam width ratios
