Default Suzuki regulator df70

In august my df70 suzuki died & I had no power to start motor or tilt motor. Hunting for the cause,I cleaned & greased all my battery connections & got the motors working & started the main.Thats when I had a short bout of brain flatulence & turned the 3 way switch to the off position for about 30 seconds. Since then my console voltage guage reads 15.5 volts constantly. Motor manual says to check rectifier/regulator resistence with a suzuki digital tester or readings will differ.Should read 20-50. Tested with my hi-tech voltage meter & got readings of 0 on all the terminals. Im assumeing its toast and chargeing batteries full tilt.I have an on board charger & never leave home without full charge batts.Console meter still 15.5. High priced regulator in my future? Vern

Default why are you reposting the thread?

the details have changed somewhat since your other post so i guess you felt you needed to better describe the situation but in doing so you left out some details such as losing power and bad connection to the ECM

not sure why your giving us less info now but you never answered my question from your other post so i'll ask it again here:

have you put your test meter on the battery and checked if its really getting 15.5 volts?

i highly doubt it is since most charging systems dont put out over 14-14 1/2 volts

I have had 2 problems. The 1st was the motor quitting.Got the motor running again & in the process I seem to have created another in the form of higher charging values on the console meter than I had never seen before especially since I always leave home with a full charge.Batteries tested with digital meter at 12.5 volts yesterday at rest with surface charge pulled off. Motor running they test 14.9 & console guage reads around 15.5,voltage meter conected to the back of the console guage says 14.8. The console guage doesnt have numerical graduations so my 15.5 volt is a little bit of a close guess. Batteries at rest match console readings when motor not running. What bothers me is they never change when motor is running. After running batts tested 13.8, & console read the same.Trust me, im not changeing my story to try to trip you up. The story is long & convoluted & Im trying not to bore anybody so dont take it personal. I still never found the cause of the first problem,it just went away . It just happened to go away while I was looking for loose wires in the elect parts holder.Im aware a wiggle isnt a fix.All is clean, brite, shiney & tight under engine cowl. Vern

sounds like the regulator is stuck on full charge mode but its rare, in my expereience its most often failed by not charging when it goes, double check the wiring to the rectifier to be sure its not bad wiring telling it the battery is low.

look for voltage drops at any plugs in the harness just to be sure but it does sound like its dead.

jump starting with jumper cables from a car or battery charger with the 50amp start setting feature can and often does fry them if the cables arent removed instantly after starting in case any of that fits what you went thru
