  • Trim/tilt only working down (df300)

I need to dissassemble my trim tilt main cylinder rod since it’s leaking oil and I want to change the o-rings etc. I followed the steps in the service manual and tilted the motor fully up, lowered the transport suppport brackets. Then I took out the pin holding the piston and lowered it with the tilt down button. Then after a while I tried to drive the piston out again to try to mount the pin again but the electrical motor does not run in that direction. First I thought the tilt measurement sensor made it think that the engine is tilted up max (which is off course is since it’s on the support brackets) but lowering the sensor by hand doesn’t help. What do I miss? How do I get the piston out again so I can mount the pin back?

Edit: I also tried to manually lower the engine to fully down tucking the piston in behind. Then the motor works again. But this won’t help me with the assembly since I can’t reach behind the lowered engine
