crack piston on DF175

I am overhauling 2 of Suzuki 2010 DF175 engines after water found in Oil Pan. anyone know what has cause the all pistons both engine have small cracks ? please see attachment picture.

picture is too small to see much of anything but its hard to say with certainty why it cracked but most likely its stress cracks from overheating and partially seizing up from lack of oil. you likely werent far off from seeing the rod come thru the side of the block when that piston shattered.

i would pay close attention to the cylinders to be sure they arent out of round from uneven wear.

just me personally but if i ever get that far into an engine i like to get it bored one size over so its as new as possible when im done. its been a long long time since i rebuilt one so i dont know if they even still have the ability to do that on outboards nowadays
