  • 16" prop on DF175

Has anyone ever put a 16" prop on a DF175? while at WOT (6200 rpm), With my current prop (15x21), I'm getting 37 knots, at 5000 rpm, I'm at 30 knots, 4500 rpm at 27 knots, 4000 rpm
at 22 knots, 3300 rpm I'm only getting 14 knots. My boat is fairly light (Sea Fox 206. I feel like at a reasonable cruising speed, I'm turning way to many rpms. Any suggestions? I've been told to go to a 16x21.5 but am worried about tip clearance.

      Prop

What do you want out of your boat/prop? Speed or Hole-shot? 16" will catch more water. Better hole-shot less speed.

!6" works just fine. I have a 16x18 1/2 on my DF150, pushing a 2600 lb 20' modified V hull w/T-top. Cruises at 25 mph @ 3800 rpm. WOT 5800 fully loaded and about 35-37 mph. Absolutely NO problem with tip clearance. On plane within 3 seconds loaded.
