2000 - 50 HP - 4 Stroke

Hi all,

I hope to write this without writing a book.

Motor was in outside storage 3-4 yrs.
After not starting I figured it was not getting gas.
Would run on prime for a few seconds.

I sent injectors out to be check and cleaned. Still no dice on running.
Removed vapor separator to find froze up pump. Replaced it with a
good used pump. Set the float level to parallel to parting face. (could
not find any info on float level)

Re-assembled motor, primed and started, at idle, only to get intermittent high RPM. I'm guessing a rev limiter was keeping the RPM in check.
Removed the throttle cable to be sure linkage was relaxed. No change in motor running.

Don't know what may be causing problem.
Now I need help for sure.

If you are trying to rev engine up in neutral then engine will only run about 3000 rpm's, it has an overrev in neutral protection.

No. I'm not trying to rev the engine at all. It is doing this as soon as starting. The throttle is all the way back to idle. I checked the linkage also.
