  • Counter rotation to standard lower unit

Df140 was counter rotation it locked up so I put a standard rotation lower unit on it. Now it will shift from neutral to forward but when I try to shift it to reverse it will not go in gear. I removed cable and tried to shift it manually and it does same thing, so it's not an adjustment issue.
Was I suppose to change something else? Or is something wrong with lower unit?

No you should not need to change anything else. Try spinning the propeller when enguaging into gear.

It spins, feels like it is not Ingaging all the way. You can feel it hitting the gears lightly. graps good and tight in forward. You know the sound it makes when you are shifting into gear, that transition noise from neautral to in gear. It makes that noise the hole time when shifting into reverse, with engine running.

sounds like a shift shaft adjustment (did you check it when you replaced the leg) or something is wrong with the gearbox itself.

What are you doing with the locked up counter gear case?
