DT55 gear case not original, need help.

A gentleman brought me a "1984" DT 55 gear case in which he pulled the shift rod loose, broke both bolts on bearing housing, and broke both ears. I have disassembled the gear case and ready to go back together with it. One problem, if you look up his serial number "05501-751584," on Browns point's micro fish, it is not the same. Is there a way to determine what gearcase I have without ordering parts in the dark? Thanks

I have just fitted a 1984 dt85 gear case to a 1991 dt85 and even though the part numbers are the same I don't thing the cases are different. I could be wrong. But mine are identical and works perfect.

i am facing this issue still now dont know where we can get the originals..still now i am managing with a duplicate one...can any one tell where can get the originals
