  • suzuki 60 4 stroke

i have a 60suzki 4 stroke with cooling problems. have replaced water pump, thermostat, pressure relief valve 20004 model. runs hot in about 16 minutes in idle. pressure relief valve is not opening. removed pressure relief valve runs cool but oil pan feels hot hot. took sensor out and it does not seem to have enough pressure to push pressure relief valve open. it runs fine in 1/2 to 3/4 speed but gets hot in idle or trolling speed any ideas thanks rusty1940

When you replace the water pump impeller, did you replace the water pump liner and housing? Did you verify that the water tube sealed propperly?

You should verify all the cooling passages are clear from debri. You can do this with compressed air and/or water hose (if you have good water pressure).

have been un able to remove the flush plug. is it a standard hose thread. it took 24 minutes of idling to get the alarm to go off. the temperature on exhaust manifold was 205 degrees eased the speed up and the temperature dropped to 165 almost immediatly.and water started coming. through the pressure valve

It really sounds like the water pump is not supplying enough water pressure at low speeds.

had to peel the flush plug out, flushed with good water pressure. after the temp did not get over180 the alarm did not go off idling over 30 minutes. the problem now is the threads on the flush port were eaten up. have new plugs ordered but dont know if they will seal. do you know if they make a hose threader tap. it is close to a three quarter pipe thread but not exact. it is staight and pipe thread is tapered thanks rusty
