Trim Gauge Malfunction

At present the trim gauge on my 225 is pegged in the down position. The only thing it does is jump a bit when I crank the engine. I checked the connections under the console and manually moved the trim sending device and still no response. How would I go about troubleshooting this issue?

If you unplug the trim sender and the guage does not change, chances are that it is the guage, if you can check the trim harness and verify there are no shorts or breaks.
