What is good compression on a 2003 140 with unknown hours?

Compression should be 185-242 PSI, max. differance between cylinders 14 PSI.

Compression should be taken when cranking with tkrottle in full throttle position.

It has 184 in 2 cylinders and 181 in the other 2. Engine starts eaisly and runs great. Although the readings are on the low end is the ok for an engine that old?

I would say you're doing alright with that compression mainly because there is very little varience between cylinders. We sometimes say that motors are "getting tired" when they have lower compression across all cylinders. New rings can help sometimes if compression is low. The rings and cylinder walls can simply wear under use and abuse causing lower compression.

Thanks for you compression answers. Another question. No water comes out of the weep hole. I removed the plastic plug and stuck a wire in the hole, tried compressed air and water pressure still no flow. How can I remove the blockage?

It may not be a blockage if those tricks didn't work. The motor may not pee out of the indicator hole if it is not warm because of the thermostat, but you don't want to run it too long and burn it up. If it's running for a couple minutes and still doesn't squirt water then you may have a problem. Also, the water pump impeller could be damaged or broken.

One of my DF 140's teltale stream was weaker than the other and had little or no flow when running engine with ear muffs when flushing.

I found that the thermostat was stuck fully open. Changed thermostat and all was OK.

I will check the thermostat to see if it is stuck open, it hasn't overheated yet so I don't think it's stuck closed. Perhaps the wire gets stuck due to a sharp bend but I don't know why water or air pressure hasn't worked. I just had the water pump impellor changed.

I removed the hose as shown in the attachment where it goes back into the engine holder and tried compressed air and water. Neither worked. I inserted a ss cable and pushed in and out until it broke loose. Water flowsfreely.
