Which thermostat

Hey Guys: New here, need some advise. I just ball honed and installed new pistons and rings on my 1983 DT85, everything else was within the specs in the service manual. So the service manual calls for either a 42c degree thermostat or a 62c degree thermostat. which one do I need or does it matter. The motor will be used in fresh and brackish water. Hope someone can clear this up for me. Thanks in advance...
