  • SUZUKI DT 50 lower unit

    Hi,
I have a 1980 suzuki dt 50 and I have to change oil seal above the gear case.I've disassembled gear case, changed oil seals behind propeller, but I can't take off the bearing housing. In that housing should be an oil seal.It seems like something is holding it down(spring??).Don't have service manual. Can anyone help, please?

Not sure if prop shaft carrier housing or drive shaft bearing housing you are trying to remove but probably has corrosion holding it in , may need to apply heat to get loose.

Here are few pics, maybe it will be easier to understand. I can't remove that "plate" on the top. I don't know can I remove it without removing the driveshaft.

Probably the bearing holding it on, use heat on plate while pulling up.

Is it possible to pull the shaft out without removing the pinion at lower end of the shaft (parts nr. 15,16,17,18 on 2nd picture)?

Sorry, wrong question. Is it possible to remove the plate without removing the pinion (so that the shaft stays in housing)?
