Recoil spring bad?

Just bought used dt25c. 1990 i believe. Supposedly runs good but Cord was broken so i replaced... No problem there but now cord retracts weakly or not at all. Recoil assembly looks clean from what i can tell so im thinking to try a new spring or am i missing something? Advice appreciated. Thanks much

It seems possible that you should have pre-tensioned the spring one turn so that it had enough tension to pull the rope back quickly. Maybe you can remove the handle, turn the assembly one turn, and put the handle back on. I don't know your motor but I have done this with many starter robe replacement projects over the years.
