prop change

I am running a Suzuki DF140 4 stroke on a Bay Stealth. The prop is pretty beat up. Recently I have been unable to achieve the former top in mph and there is a tendancy to overrev the engine running wide open especially in rough water. Are the two symptoms a function of the condition of the prop. Engine was recently checked and is in good condition.

General rules given not too much info...ANY stainless outperforms the best alluminum...4 blades outperform 3 on heavy boats. You don't say what prop you were running, or your type of boat but if it once was good...get a similar one in ss
