  • DT150 Charging Issue

    Hi All,
My 1986/7 DT150 is now running very well thanks to a recent carb issue. That's the good news.
However, when I returned to the ramp yesterday, the battery did not have enough in it to raise the motor. Guess I am lucky we made it home. How lucky we are sometimes given this was a trip with the wife out into the bay about 12 km.
So I have a charging issue. I am not able to run the motor for too long in the garage....neighbours...noise ....blue smoke...you get the picture...
I changed out the Rectifier, thinking this could be a good place to start. Had a decent spare off another later model spare DT150. Unfortunately I wasn't able to check before this but now I have measured Voltage at the battery at 13.2 when running at 3000rpm. This seems a little low, but probably enough to keep a charge. Given I spent much more time at 3000-3200 revs yesterday when boating than at idle, I am assuming I have made an improvement or else the battery shouldn't have been discharged.
Question is....Is this about the norm for charge? It still seems a bit low.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

That is normal should be ok.
