Have an issue with a 9.9DF. Had left fuel sitting in the carb for over a year and it crystalized in the carburetor. Took it apart, cleaned it up, installed a new needle under the float and replaced all gaskets and O-rings. After reinstalling the carb I now have fuel that is running out of the "overflow". My mechanic is telling me to replace the entire carb body because the needle seat is corroded and is causing the fuel to flow into the carb. Does this sound right or is there something they are overlooking?

The float valve is not seating properly, could be bad seat or a bad float.

So is that something that would cause you to buy a new carb or is it something you'd send out to a carb shop to do?

Take it to dealer to get carb cleaned before buying a new carb.
