  • 60hp Four Stroke Steering Problem

First post here and appreciate this forum. I have a 60 hp Suzuki 4 stroke bought used and the steering is very loose. Is there an adjustment on the motor itself to tighten? I looked but couldn't see any adjustment on the motor. Otherwise, is the adjustment on the steering wheel?

    Many thanks, Ward

No there is adjustment for steering, possible worn cable or steering helm.

The slop in single cable steering is normal, caused by the cable moving from side to side inside the outer casing. This happens mainly where the cable makes a bend. Some boats have double cable steering, which allows nearly all the slop to be adjusted out. Double cable can probably be added to your boat but it would likely not be cheap.
