Q.Disconnecting the shifting linkage

I have a 1996 suzuki dt55. I need to drop the lower unit to replace the water pump ... How do I disconnect the shifting linkage?

this shows the shift rod and it looks like #13 is the pin to release it but its hard to tell from the picture: 1996 DT55TCLT Suzuki Marine Outboard CLUTCH Diagram and Parts

you may need to shift it forward or reverse to see it but keep it in that position when remounting the gear case or you may have access issues not being able to get at it
