  • DF6 lower fluid leak

I have a 2008 DF6 that has lower gear fluid leaking out from under the cavitation plate from the water intake. Anybody know if I can undo the two bolts and replace a seal to fix the problem?
    Thanks for your response!

    since no one has replied..
just from looking at the schmatics and parts list..
    I don't see a gasket as such
The water pump is fastened directly to the top of that lower drive assembly
the schmatic is showing an drive shaft bearing in between
I would suspect from what you have described that oil is getting past this bearing
how much oil are you losing and are seeing water in the lower gear case oil?

Thanks for the response and ideas. Yes, the lower gear lube is milky and there's oil dripping out of the water intake.
Before taking it to the mechanic I might tinker with it myself.

most often what happens is the shaft bearing housing gets corrosion build up until it has a hole in it and starts leaking so im not sure how yours is but on my DF40 motor its best to replace the shaft bearing housing as a unit that includes new bearings seals and housing all in one. if yours doesn't come that way then just replace the seals
