  • Injun cranks but won't run 2004 df70

The check engine light flashes twice then pauses and flashes twice again, repeatedly. Manual says its a faulty "closed throttle position switch". Anybody ever experience this? Anybody ever replace one of these?

better to take it to dealer, should be faulty Throttle Position Sensor or ECM

There are 2 neutral safety switches. One is in the throttle case at the helm, the second one is under the hood where the cables attach to the linkage. Both are replaceable by someone with basic mechanical skills. I replaced my rear one, but I do not remember the motor giving a code.

I have the same engine. It's easy to test the CTP switch near the front of the motor near the linkages. With the Engine idling, hook up test leads between ground and the cable comiing out of the CTP switch. Then Advance the throttle (in Neutral, of course). You should get a voltage reading. Manual says 5V, but I get 12V.
I had the same problem but it turned out to be a damaged Exhaust Valve.
