Hi I'am trying to identify a dt 16 I have its serial number is 1602 308662 I have look at older suzuki serial number charts but this outboard is not listed only dt 16 that have the number 2 as first number, with list's it as a vz model does anybody have an idea to what I have?

from several different sites that break out the serial numbers, there is nothing that exactly matches these numbers
the 1602 is telling you it is 16HP
the 3..... figure does not compute except ...
the 1981 year is 1...... the 1982 year is 2............
therefore the 3..... should correlate to 1983
but... not seeing the 3..... figure in the sequence for a 16HP motor
the charts look like the 16HP motors last year was 1982
maybe calling a dealer.. they may have a better breakdown on the numbers you are seeing
is there another model ID number on the id plate

Thanks, I'll give the dealers a ring, I have 2 of these motors, one is a 82 with seriel number 1602 208449 and is painted blue with the white cover, the other with seriel 1602 308662 is painted silver, both are identical, I can only guess this maybe an early 83 model before suzuki scraped the 16 and went 15, can anyone tell me if a later model gearbox will fit (85 9.9 or 15) trying to make it short shaft.Comment
