  • DF40 hard to start/overheating

    Suzuki 1999 EFI DF40

Performed a full service, new spark plugs, fuel filters, pick up pump, new rectifier, new water pump, new thermostat, VST tank cleaned out, new fuel lines, water separator and fuel tank.

Cold engine runs great, after it gets warmed up and sits a few minutes it's hard to start. Sometimes when you run at full speed it shuts down to idle and the temp alarm and light goes off. Turning engine off for a few seconds the motor starts right back up and run maybe 1/2 mile and repeats.

Any idea what could be causing this issue?

Sounds like you might have a bad temperature sensor, sending bad info to the ECM. It would account for both hard starting and the overheat alarm. According to the parts diagram, you have two temperature sensors.

Did you have this problem before the service?
