  • 2004 DF140 oil light issue

    Greetings,

New member here. Purchased a new to me 2004 Campion with twin DF140's. Great boat and motors so far.

One issue. I have an oil light that just came on. It does not flash or beep. Just stays illuminated. Maybe 25 hours on motor since last service. Oil level if fine, checked it multiple times.

No issues at idle or at speed. Starts fine, would say there is nothing wrong while under way. Just the red oil light on. Again, it does not flash or beep. Just solid red.

    Ideas?

    Thanks

There is a oil change reminder that should come on at 100 hours from the last time it was reset
Do you know if when the oil was changed if this reminder was reset?

Probably not the oil change reminder if it's on solid. But even if it's a bad pressure switch, your motor should go into limp mode (1000 RPM limit, along with rev limit light and audio alarm). To be safe I would remove the oil pressure switch and hook up a pressure gauge to read the actual pressure. If you find that the pressure is good, then replace the oil pressure switch.

do a oil filter change with 10/30 or 10-40 oil otherwise

        Low oil pressure
        • Clogged oil filter
        • Leakage from oil passages
        • Defective oil pump
        • Defective oil pressure regulator
        • Damaged O-ring
        • Combination of above items
        High oil pressure
        • Using an engine oil of too high viscosity
        • Clogged oil passage
        • Clogged oil pressure regulator
        • Combination of above items
        9) After testing, reinstall oil pressure switch.
Refer to “Oil Pressure Switch Removal and
Installation” in Section 1E (Page 1E-4).
        10) Reinstall air duct.
