  • Lower shift rod removal

    Hello all,
I am working on a 1991 DT115 Suzuki lower unit. My question is this. Can I remove the lower shift rod assembly without disassembling the entire lower unit? If so, what retains the spring and ball shown on the forward end of the gear case and appears to be retained by the shift rod? I have the factory service manual but this question is not answered in the manual. I only have the lower unit so I cannot supply a model or serial number other than it is a 1981 DT115.
Thanks in advance for the help

Looking at this picture, what part are you referring to?

      Hoosmatroos,
Wrong picture. Go to the clutch diagram. I need to remove everything on the left half of the picture. The spring and ball I am referring to are items 30,32,33.
      Thanks

Thanks to Brownspoint Marina Service. Prop shaft must be removed to replace lower shift shaft.
