  • Suzuki four stroke break in

Can someone post the Suzuki break in schedule for a four stroke model? I am trying to create a matrix comparing the different engine makers break in schedules. I have been able to find owners manual info for Yamaha, Honda and Mercury but not for Suzuki.

    Thanks

2016 DF 150 Manual says - Total Break in 10hrs

Initial 2 hrs - allow to warm up 5 minutes; then for 15 minutes at idle or lowest in gear speed; then do not exceed 3000 rpms (except this may be exceeded temporarily to get your boat on plane).

Next hour - Operate motor in gear at 4000 rpms.

Next 7 hours - Operate motor normally, however; do not operate at full throttle for more than 5 minutes.

"Note: Avoid maintaining a constant engine speed for an extended period any time during the engine break-in by varying the throttle position occasionally.

First 2 hours: For the first 15 minutes, operate the engine in-gear at idling speed. During the remaining 1 hour and 45 minutes, operate the engine in-gear at less than 1/2 (half) throttle (3000r/min.)

Note: The throttle may be briefly opened beyond the recommended setting to plane the boat, but must be reduced to the recommended setting immediately after planning.

Next 1 hour: Operate the engine in-gear at less than 3/4 (three-quarter) throttle (4000r/min)

Last 7 hours: Operate engine in-gear at desired engine speed. However, do not operate continuously at full throttle for more than 5 minutes."

Quoted directly from the manual. Note it is for a 2004 engine, however, the model designation change for this engine came in 2011 or so and the break-in is essentially the same as hogfan wrote.

That is the same as my manuals for 2014 DF115 and 2016 DF2.5

Same as above for DF200 except for the bit about synthetic oil.
