  • DF70A 2014 limit rpm

    Goodmorning,

I was wondering if there is a way to limit the rpm from my outboard motor so that I can limit its top speed.
Preferable by changing the value of the build in rev limiter.
If this is not possible, is limiting the trottle body the next best sollution or are there better options ?

    Engine: DF70A
    year : 2014

    tnx for any advice

No not possible to electronically do that.

These engines have inbuilt over-rev protection - the engines computer is programmed to detect excessive rpm and prevent it happening so no damage occurs. So there is no need to further limit revs.

The main factor that affects how the engine revs is boat weight and then xorrect propellor pitch selection.

Please explain exactly what you are concerned about, and then we can probably give some advice.

I want to limit the revs from the engine so I can lock the top speed.
The top speed can not be higher then 20km/h due to local laws. By limiting the rpm I could set the top speed to 20km/h and have no problems with the waterpolice.
If it is not possible to set it lower in the factory computer I am thinking on placing a mechanical limit on the throttle lever.
