  • Running a Suzuki SS 14 x 18 from a 2006 DF140 on a 2020 DF140

I was wondering what effect the newer gear ratio would have on a Suzuki SS 14 x 18. I was getting almost 6000 rpm on the 2006. I'm going to test it out soon but wanted to know what to expect. Should I be going up or down in pitch with the new gear ratio if its not right? Pushing a heavy 1975 20' mako with a big Ttop and the 14 x18 always performed well on the older motor. I'm running a Solas 4 blade 13.75 x 19 aluminum as a test prop on the new rig and pushed it to 6300 with almost no fuel or load. I would like to try the Suzuki prop as its SS, vented, cupped, and overall a superior prop.

I found an old thread where Moonlighter discussed the change of gear ratio. Looks like a 14x18 wheel on old gear ratio is equivalent to a 14x20 on the newer model.
