  • Nema 2000 question and Lowrance Point 1 Compass

With the switch on or engine (DF200) running, my lowrance fishfinder shows the Point 1 compass as a device and works as it should. When the engine off, the Point 1 compass does not show as a device in the fishfinder. I would like to see it in the fishfinder when the engine is off. What do I have to do. Suggestion please.

Currently your NMEA2000 network power line is connected to the engine gauge harness behind the dash. So when the engine key is turned on, the network gets power when engine is turned off, network power is off. That is the normal way its done, but is by no means the only way.

Devices attached to the network can only communicate with each other when the network is powered on.

The simplest solution is just to change the network power supply connection to a separate switch that you can turn on and off as required.
