  • Synthetic oil choices

    Hello All,

New forum member, in the process of purchasing a new DF30.

I would love to hear what synthetic oils others are using, and recommend. Specifically, which oils keep the warranty intact? I plan to break-in with dino oil per conventional wisdom, but will switch to synthetic after the second change.

    Thanks in advance!

I happen to like Amsoil Marine oil 10W-40, but there are a number of good marine synthetics. You should really consider using a synth specifically made for marine engines, since the oils are formulated for the cooler temperatures that marine engines run.

Ya I use Amsoil in my car, have been pleased with their automotive line.

Using their products is compliant with the warranty requirements?

Just make sure that whatever oil you use meets the specs as stated by Suzuki for your engine and conditions in your owners manual.

If it meets those specs, then you are fine.

          Sounds good.

Any reason not to go straight to synthetic in the Lower Unit? Should I do the same Dino break-in period there?

No break-in necessary. Actually "dino-oil" break-in on engines no longer necessary either, including the outboards. Factory fill is almost universally synth now.
