Newbie with DF2.5: idle & muffs?

I just picked up a new DF2.5 - couple questions...

1) When I shift from Forward to Neutral, the engine seems to rev for a full minute before calming back down to the purr. Is that normal?

2) Will this little 2.5 accept some brand of freshwater flush muff?

I don't have an answer for question 1. As I recall, my DF2.5 does not exhibit this behavior. As for 2), the intake is above the prop and AFAIK, would not fit normal muffs. I have a 20 gallon (I think) plastic trash can which I use. I have a small cooler and prop it under the outboard (I have it mounted on a kicker plate). Fill with a hose and just run it in the can. I usually tape a small sheet of plastic "over" the cooling water release to cycle it back into the can.
