Putting this engine back together for the 2nd time and I'm considering eliminating the fuel cooler, oil cooler and air intake cooler. I understand the items are all problematic to the point they have been eliminated in newer models. What are the potential repercussions of this? I just can't believe that air cooler on the back of the intake is doing a darn thing! I can modify the plumbing pretty easily to eliminate these items. Just wondering if it would hurt anything?

I have only seen problems with the oil cooler. I have wondered the same thing? I do know there is no oil cooler on the 03 DF115, which is basically the same motor with a few minor differences.

If you concider the size of the inlet and exit holes in those oil coolers , I don't really think it does anything, Just get hold of a 115 filter stalk to replace the old cooler and 140 stalkComment
