  • Raised motor test

Last Oct. you guys talked me into raising the motor 2holes. I did it and just tried it. It wasn't a true test cause I had an extra 200# in the boat. I did pick up 1 mph and 200rpms which makes the rev light come on if not watching tach. I had a 14x19 prop on. I do have a 14x21 which I will put on. I think this will be ok without the extra 200# in the boat. What I did notice though was that the engine was louder. You could hear more exhaust noise. Originally I had the 14x21 prop on and was only getting 5700 rpms. That's why I changed to the 19. With raising motor I think the 21 will be perfect.

Is the extra exhaust noise normal? Thanks

Yes there is considerably more exhaust noise when you get the motor up to the right height. I know it's a little startling when you first run it, but you'll not notice it so much once you're used to it. You're comparing now to what you've become accustomed.

I also raised my motor two pegs at the begining of this year. I noticed more prop and exhaust noise also.
