Removed the head and found the source of the water intrusion. Internal corrosion claimed this one too.

Damn!
I have often said that if I was looking at buying a used Suzuki, the very first thing I would do is to check the internal anodes, and unless they and the internal passages they sit in looked very good, I would be passing, quick me.
And my second check would be a water test to make sure the engine would reach somewhere close to the top end of the recommended rev range. Dont wnat to buy a motor that's been lugged - seen too many that die premature deaths due to that factor as well.

Great advice on the anodes. Wish I'd have done more homework before buying. I've learned some very expensive lessons in my life. This has been one of them!Originally posted by Moonlighter View PostDamn!

Very true. When I tore down the starboard side, I was diligent about bagging and labeling every part, bolt etc along with notes about it. I wasn't near as thorough this time with that stuff. I think I could reassemble it in the dark!
Thought about dumping these engines and getting some used ones of a different brand, but I know them so well and I know what I have now, it'd be a waste of my education!
