  • DF60 lower leg seals

Hi guys,I have recently purchased a 2004 DF60 with water in the oil.I have now completely rebuilt the powerhead.I now have the lower unit stripped to install a new seal kit.My question is,do the twin propeller shaft seals go in back to back.when I removed the old seals they were both facing out (from new ),the manual I'm reading from doesn't make it clear.
Thank you in advance for your input.

I have just replaced the seals in the leg of my DF175 and both seals are installed with the lips facing out toward the propeller.
    To quote repair manual:
"using an oil seal installer, drive the two oil seals (one at a time) into the propeller shaft bearing housing. The lipped portion of the seal must face towards the propeller.

I had the housing removed and just used a suitable sized socket in a drill press to push the seals in. Also make sure that the housing is installed correctly with the word "UP" obviously facing up as there is a drain back for the needle case bearing.
If its the same as the 175
