2005 df 70 is hesitating badly at approx. 3000 rpms

New Plugs, serviced the vapor separator tank and filter. When this happens, returning the throttle to neutral and throttling back up sometimes eliminates the hesitating.

This can be caused by the neutral throttle switch on engine (gear linkages on starboard side) being loose or failing.

So the ecu doesnt see the signal change when the engine is put into gear so thinks its still in neutral and limits rpm to about 3000. Engine runs bad like a race car on the pit limiter. Putting it back into neutral and selecting gear again may get it to work again fir a short time, until it fails completely.
