  • check engine 4 - 4

Hi, Im new to the forum. I have a 2013 250APX that is coming up with check engine 4 - 4 on the Suzuki multi function gauge. Its also accompanied by a beep every 4 seconds or so. If I bring the engine back to idle, the fault clears and doesnt come up again for 10 minutes. Each time the alarm comes up, it will clear and come on again 10 minutes later. Any ideas welcome!

4-4 isn't that oil pressure? Check your oil level. Normally the engine is restricted in RPM when this error occurs.

According to my service manual 4-4 code is OIL PRESSURE SENSOR

Thanks for that. I think it is more likely to be the sensor, rather than low pressure as the code always comes up after 10 minutes of being cleared. The engine must check functionality of the sensor every 10 minutes. The engine itself has plenty of oil and RPM is not limited when the error appears. I will replace tge sensor, but also see if I can measure oil pressure.
Thanks to both of you. I couldn’t find reference to 4 - 4 anywhere.
